Ecuador's ousted President Lucio Gutierrez has arrived in Brazil to accept an asylum offer after being toppled in a popular revolt.
The former army colonel left his refuge at the Brazilian embassy in Quito on Sunday and boarded a Brazilian Air Force jet with his family. Ecuador's parliament ousted Gutierrez on Wednesday after months of protests over his dismissal of several Supreme Court justices. Protests against his rule continued up until the moment of his departure.
