Police in Nepal say former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has been arrested for refusing to appear before an anti-graft commission to answer allegations of corruption.
Deuba has accused the commission of waging a vendetta against opponents of King Gyanendra's recent takeover of power. Six other former cabinet ministers have already appeared before it. Gyanendra sacked Deuba's government on February 1 for failing to quell a nine-year-old Maoist rebellion. He then seized absolute power in a move that has been widely criticised.
