$250 billion in American banks in an effort to head off a deepening
of the present financial crisis...

Iceland's Prime Minister, Geir Haarde, has told reporters in
Reykjavik that his government intends to honour all its obligations
even though the country is on the brink of national bankruptcy. In
an exclusive interview with TV news channel, Russia Today, Haarde
admitted that he has asked Moscow for a loan of four billion euros
to ease cash flow in Iceland which has been devastated by the
global financial crisis...
